No matter the reason behind your trip/move, a ski-mountain resort is ready and willing to guide you in everything there is to know and do in this winter wonderland. While there are multiple smaller ski resorts within a 90 minute drive of Spokane, if you're willing to put in a half day's drive you can reach some amazing resorts depending on the snow at the time and the conditions on the mountain.
Our top five within a half day's drive of Spokane are:
People come far and wide to enjoy everything that Schweitzer has to offer. Fantastic slopes and the beautiful location it sits on, keep people coming back each year. Due to its height, you're allowed a view of three neighboring states, an incredible overlook of Sandpoint, and stunning views of Lake Pend Oreille. So, hop on a ski lift or cozy up by the fire and enjoy the breathtaking scenery.
With Spokane's location in the Pacific Northwest (considered the Inland Northwest by locals), there are multiple destinations within a half day's drive of Spokane that add to the draw. Fairmont Chateau is located across the Canadian border in Whistler, British Columbia.
This luxurious resort not only caters to those looking to hit the slopes, but it also contains a spa, a fitness center, complimentary yoga classes, and much, much more. So whether you're a seasoned-vet ready to shred the fresh powder, or a beginner looking for some guidance - this resort has you covered in more ways than one.
This resort hits #3 on our list due to the incredible variation in things to do while in attendance! Yes, many come for the “Biggest Skiing Mountain in Americaâ€, but they have so many more things to offer! Zip-line across a snowy tundra of endless powder, visit the escape room, Dog-sled or sleigh-ride across the grounds, the possibilities are endless at Big Sky.
This ski-mountain has ranked on our list, due to it's impressive feat: It is open 12 months out of the year. This mountain has 3,690 vertical feet, more than anybody else in the Pacific Northwest. Because of its height, the snow stays on the mountain longer - meaning they can keep business going all year round. If that isn't impressive enough, it is located near the top of a 11,245 foot volcano, making it the tallest mountain in Oregon.
Although they don't have a specific “resortâ€, this mountain is partnered with three different luxury hotels right on the mountain! Crystal Mountain has been in business since 1962 and became a national treasure due to hosting the first annual National Alpine Championships. Ever since, they have hosted guests from all over the world, coming to enjoy the many varieties of ski terrain they have to offer.
So, between the insane mountains, or the endless activities to choose from - you are guaranteed an incredible time in the PNW. Come take a vacation at one of the many incredible ski resorts we have to offer, and you will instantly fall in love with the location.
